Geospins Diary
Life: the recording of the song
The afternoon was remarkable. Theo, a programmer, Rodney Smith and a beautiful soul singer, Ricky Rankin together all brought their own unique skills to the recording studio and contributed amazing talent both to the generation of the musical ideas and to the final recording. It was incredible to see something grow from nothing in the space of a few hours and how the sum of all the parts came together to create something very special. The boys from the primary school came at the end of the session and added a backing track "Don't give it up/don't give it up/ don't give it up".
As I drove Geospin back to meet his father at Mile End he was more talkative than every before. His face was radiant and he met his father with a broad brilliant smile before introducing me to his younger brothers and sisters.
Geospin was given an instrumental track so that he could perform the track live and was given one piece of crucial advice, "Eat mike". He will perform the song live on World Hospice Day and at the launch of the new hospital radio station
