The Director

photo of Emily YoungEmily Young's critically acclaimed feature film 'Kiss of Life' starred Peter Mullan and Ingeborga Dapkunaite. In official selection in Un Certain Regard at Cannes, 'Kiss of Life' also won for Emily the prestigious 2004 Carl Foreman Award for Special Achievement by a Director, Screenwriter or Producer in their first feature film at the 2004 BAFTA awards.

She has adapted and will direct Andrea Ashworth's best-selling memoir, 'Once in a House on Fire' which is being produced by Kevin Loader.

A graduate of the directors' programme at the Polish National Film School, Emily won the Cannes Ciné Fondation Competition with her graduation film, 'Second Hand' (co-produced with the National Film and Television School). It has also won the Golden Lion at the Taipei Film Festival, Taiwan and the Special Jury Prize at the Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival. 'The Tower of Babel' is an extraordinary (short) documentary about Henryk Kowalczyk, a deaf-blind sculptor living in eastern Poland.

The Composer

Paul Clark is co founder and musical director of performance group The Clod Ensemble, for whom he has written seven full length scores which have toured nationally and internationally. Elsewhere, recent chamber operas include The Weather Man (Opera North), ClockOpera (Welsh National opera), liebeslied/my suicides (ICA/Genesis Foundation). He has written scores for dozens of theatre pieces at venues such as the National Theatre, Young Vic, Bolton Octagon, Purcell Room, Oxford Playhouse and as a film composer with directors including Arnaud Desplechin, Jon Jones, Mark Ariel Waller, John McDonagh, and Steve Green. Other collaborations include The Fall, Apples and Snakes Poetry, DJ Dangermouse and Jemeni, Stacey Makeshi and Lois Weaver. Awards include the 1997 Christopher Whelen Prize for Music Theatre and a 1999 Arts Foundation Fellowship.

The Rosetta Life artists

He is also a film maker, librettist, writer, Co-Creative Director of Rosetta Requiem, and Director of Video for Rosetta Life.
